Why Glass?
Bottles are one of the preferred methods of packaging products. Manufacturers like glass because it is a superb barrier, needing no artifical additives (as with cardboard) or internal coatings (as with cans or plastic) to preserve the contents which it protects. Inert and taint-free, glass does not contaminate food or drink while protecting them from moisture, aroma and gaseous escape or penetration.
Glass is also shape-versatile. Look around you. Bottles come in an endless variety of shapes, sizes and colours that enhance a product’s image giving it a ‘classy’ look. Some manufacturers use the shape of a bottle to give their product a unique identity e.g the distinctive Coca Cola Trademark Bottle and Trinidad’s own Solo Apple J Bottles.
During 2007 Carib Glass introduced online sleeving on one of its lines. This means that sleeves are immediately applied on to the bottle as it is manufactured. Examples of these are the Coca Cola, Schweppes and Angostura’s Lemon Lime and Bitters(LLB) drink.
